"Archetypal Astrology: Embodying the Planetary Gods" was the lecture

Schostak specializes in helping creative artists transform their addictions and creative blocks. She has been in private practice in New York City for the past twelve years consulting, writing and teaching. She is the co-author of "Surviving Saturn's Return: Overcoming the Most Tumultuous Time of Your Life," as well as "Fate of Your Date" for Chronicle Books. She is the creator and editor of the first online flip-style astrology magazine, www.constellationmag.com.

Last year she released the "Zodiac Dance" DVD based on her monthly workshops combining the archetypal aspects of astrology with Authentic Movement. She holds a Master's Degree from New York University in Clinical Psychology, and a Master's Degree in Psychoanalytic Studies from the New School in NYC with post-graduate training from the Institute of Analytical Psychology in Zurich. She just wrapped up filming a weekly show for NBC's ivillage-- "Star Signs with the Saturn Sisters." She's currently the resident astrologer at Elle UK/ElleUK.com and is a regular columnist for Lifescript.com.

"As a Jungian Psychotherapist," Schostak says, "I have found that astrology is an invaluable tool for revealing the core psychic dramas and personal myths that play out in our lives. When these archetypal gods are lived consciously, our life becomes illuminated. To the degree they remain unconscious, they show up in our life as destructive or self-sabotaging patterns, bodily or psychic symptoms, or even tragic events that many label as 'karma' or 'fate.'"

As astrologers living in the 21st Century, she continues, "it behooves us to move in a direction where we not only empower the client to a greater level of self-knowledge on a mental level, but create a sacred space where they have the opportunity to experience the authentic Self potential in present time -- not just as some idyllic future self with the promise of unlimited amounts of money, love and perfect health. Aren't most of us looking for an experience of the numinous and the transcendent to take us beyond the mundane realms of linear time and overly dominant left-brain thinking, to a direct confrontation with the 'Self'?"
